Projects I'm working on

• The UltraVISTA survey, particularly the part called ELVIS, which is searching for z=8.8 Lyman alpha emitting galaxies using narrow band imaging with the 4-meter VISTA telescope over a 5 year period starting in 2009. UltraVISTA is one of the ESO public surveys.
• Various GTO projects using the new VLT spectrograph called X-shooter (see also the older page). The GTO (guaranteed time observations) will take place over a 3 year period starting in 2009.
• The project "Fundamental properties of GRB-selected galaxies: A Swift/VLT legacy survey" (PI: Jens Hjorth), particularly the part using spectroscopy to search for Lyman alpha emission in GRB host galaxies.
• Various Virtual Observatory related projects (e.g. this).
• The ESO Distant Cluster Survey (EDisCS).

Teaching

• Galaxy formation: official description, course website; spring 2009 ("blok 3"). Johan Fynbo was the main teacher, but taught some of it.
• Astronomi 2 - Galakser: official description, course website might be here [course website from last year]; autumn 2009 ("blok 1"). The course is taught approximately 1/3 by Jens Knude and 2/3 by myself; I am officially in charge of the course ("kursusansvarlig").
