Adaptive optics

The Nordic Optical Telescope at the La Palma Observatory is known to regularly provide images of excellent quality. A study of the prospects of improving the quality further by applying low-order adaptive optics has been presented by Michael I. Andersen, Frank Grundahl, and I in 1993.

My efforts have been centered on simulations of atmospheric degradation of the wavefront, and the performance of low-order adaptive optics. Measurements of the temporal scale and isoplanatic properties of image motion has been performed at the NOT.

By now, I have handed in my thesis (1.3MB postscript) for a master's degree.
