Tycho-2 : Alcor-Mizar
A one by one degree field with the well-known double star,
Alcor and Mizar, in the tail of the Great Bear. The image is from
the Digitized Sky Survey based on a red Palomar Schmidt plate.
New Tycho-2 stars are marked with blue diamonds. Stars which are
both in the Hipparcos Catalogue and in Tycho-2 are marked with
white circles, while stars both in the first and the second
Tycho catalogues are flagged with black circles. The faintest
Tycho-2 stars in this field are of magnitude 12.4 in V_T.
The star density is modest because the field is high above
the galactic plane (+62 degrees).
