Research activities:

I have two main interests: astronomical instruments and observational cosmology.

In the past couple of years I have build a number of focal reducer instruments. The first one build was DFOSC for our 1.54m telescope at La Silla. Up to now we have build 9 focal reducer instruments for various observatories, and overview of these instruments is given HERE

Together with Dr. Mariano Moles (Madrid), Dr. Daniela Bettoni and Dr. Giovanni Fasano (Padova) I have started a major effort to carry out the Surface Brightness Test for the expansion of the universe. We plan to determine the fundamental plane for about 35 galaxy clusters to a redshift of 0.3.

My teaching is presently an overview course in extra galactic astronomy, called Astronomi 221. The textbook is Carroll and Ostlie: "An introduction to Modern Astrophysics", Addison-Wesley. Chapters 23, 24, 25, and 26 are used. The course is intended for students on their 2nd year (4th semester). Here you can see the study plan, which will be updated during the curse Studieplan 2004.
