Input catalogue for the
Brorfelde Schmidt Telescope

The Brorfelde Schmidt telescope normally operates in a "service mode" involving several programmes each night, i.e. the person that obtains observing time at the telescope, in following named "the Observer", does not need to be present during the observations - but he/she is welcome to take part in the observing, especially during the first night(s).

Observers at the Brorfelde Schmidt Telescope are requested to provide either a hand written list of the fields, labeled with I.D. names, the coordinates of the field centers together with information of the epoch of the coordinates, approx. magnitudes, filters (B, V, R, I, & Z filters are available), and exposure times.

If convenient it is possible to do online observing. E-mail the object coordinates e.g. (see form above), - be patient for a while -, and get the observation from the observatory main computer. Via E- mail the observer now is able to comunicate corrections/canges to the observation, and get a new exposure at once.
In case you have several fields, you are requested to provide an observing list/input cataloque as an ASCII file with a name that identifies the observer and the extension: .CAT (e.g.: OBSHEJ.CAT)
This ASCII catalouge file must have following format:

       |hh:mm:ssss|sdd:mm:sss|eeee.t|saaaa|sdddd|iiiiiiiii|cccccccccccccccc| nnnn
Here is an example (part of obshej)

       |09:43:1000|+68:08:540|1950.0|+0000|+0000| NGC 2976|HJ | 43
       |09:51:3000|+69:18:180|1950.0|+0000|+0000| NGC 3031|HJ M81 | 44
       |09:51:4100|+69:54:540|1950.0|+0000|+0000| NGC 3034|HJ M82 | 45
       | | | | | | | |
Where the columns are:

       | RA | Dec | Epoch| PM a| PM d|Fieldname| Comments | Cat#
RA is in hours, minutes and seconds with two decimals
Dec is Sign, degr., arcmin, arcsec - one -
Epoch is year.t where t (tenth of year) must bee included.
Proper motion in Ra & Dec is normally of no interest. Make it +0000
FieldName is an identifier of the observer`s choice. Fill in spaces to get a total of 9 characters in this data field.
Comments: choice of filters, exposure time etc. that may assist observing. total of 16 characters.
Cat#: A running numbering of the fields in the cataloque.
It is very pratical to arrange the order and numbering according to RA.

To get observing time at the Schmidt Telescope, simply write a proposal (about one page A4) specifying the amount of observing time requested and the expected scientific outcome of the obeservations. Send the proposal to:
