Iwatani connectors

Pictures of the connectors between the rotary valve, high-pressure tube and cold head. These were made after a degraded cooling performance was noted. Some clear substance is noted covering the valves. Lacking a better description, it is called "oil".

End of the thin flexible tube. The inner O-ring is shiny from a coating of oil. The plate in the center is also covered, and the bright part at the bottom is due to a droplet of oil.

End of the thick flexible tube. It has only been used once, and the coating is noticeably thinner - but it is still there. Some black grains are seen, possibly part of an O-ring?

The connector of the rotary valve. Droplets of oil is seen in the center and in a ring around it.

The connector of the cold head. The distribution of oil is similar to that seen at the rotary valve end.

Another picture of the connector of the cold head. A considerable amount of oil on the outer O-ring can be seen.

The copper tube between the rotary valve and cold head. The insulation has been pulled back to expose a strongly bent part near the valve.
